REAL Schools Shah Alam Expands Global Learning Through Strategic Sister-School Partnership in China

            Real Schools, Shah Alam Campus
            17 Sep 2026

REAL Schools Shah Alam (RSSA) has taken another significant step in expanding global learning opportunities through the signing of a sister-school Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Guiyang No. 3 Middle School in Guizhou, China.

The partnership was formalised during the 2026 Guizhou–Malaysia Sister Schools Partnership Building and Exchange Programme, establishing a platform for longer-term collaboration, student and educator exchanges, cultural understanding and shared learning between both schools.

Significantly, Guiyang No. 3 Middle School was officially selected as one of China’s Ministry of Education (MOE) Primary and Secondary School Artificial Intelligence Education Bases (教育部中小学人工智能教育基地). Xinhua identifies Guiyang No. 3 as an MOE-designated AI Education Base and highlights the school’s distinctive approach to AI-focused education.

The school has developed a technology-enabled learning ecosystem that includes AI-supported smart classrooms, AI innovation and VR laboratories, and learning opportunities in artificial intelligence, big data, programming and drone technology. Its students have achieved more than 400 awards in science and technology innovation competitions over the past three years, demonstrating the depth of the school’s innovation culture and student engagement in technology.

This makes the partnership particularly relevant to RSSA’s own future-ready learning direction. Through initiatives including STREAM, Digital Ethics & Citizenship, technology-enabled learning and Leadership & Communications, RSSA is developing learners who can engage confidently, creatively and responsibly with technology and an increasingly AI-driven and interconnected world.

During the partnership programme, Ms Lili Mariah, Campus Principal of REAL Schools Shah Alam, met with Ms Chen Jie (陈婕), Party Branch Secretary of Guiyang No. 3 Middle School, as both schools marked the beginning of their new relationship.

Speaking at the event, Ms Chen described the signing as a new starting point for the school to actively engage with its partner school and develop ongoing educational exchanges. She emphasised using education and culture as bridges to deepen cooperation and enable the two school communities to grow together.

The partnership creates exciting possibilities for both schools to explore collaborative student projects, AI and STREAM-related learning, cultural exchange, professional dialogue between educators, virtual collaboration and future reciprocal student and educator exchanges.

For RSSA, the MOU is therefore more than an international partnership. It creates another avenue through which learning can extend beyond the campus, connecting our students with peers, educators and ideas internationally while providing authentic opportunities to develop communication, cultural intelligence, innovation and global perspectives.

The signing ceremony also received coverage from China News Service, bringing wider visibility to the Guizhou–Malaysia sister-school initiative.

From Shah Alam to Guiyang, we are building bridges for our students to learn, connect, lead and grow together.
