Overview of the REAL International Early Years Education

We believe that every child is an individual with a unique story to tell. That is why our Early Years education is carefully designed to help young learners develop their social, emotional and personal skills through a thematic approach that incorporates literacy, numeracy, S.T.E.A.M and Personal, Social, Health & Emotional Development. 

We aim to support young learners' learning and development by laying the foundation through innovative learning for them to reach their full potential by optimising their hard and soft skills as they grow. Our Early Years education will also introduce your child to Montessori/Character Education, as well as Creative and Aesthetic Expression, allowing them to explore their non-academic potential. This encourages them to learn through experiential learning so their academic excellence is founded on a "Growth Mindset".

We acknowledge that assisting a child as they transition between different stages of their school life is a vital part of their overall well-being. Our Early Years journey begins at the age of four and until the age of six. By the age of five and six, a more structured and bridged programme will be introduced under Early Years 2 and Early Years 2a. This will guide your child through the transition to Year 1 or Primary 1 at REAL Schools, ensuring they achieve the best possible learning outcomes from the Early Years.

Ms Meera Perumal

Head of International, REAL Schools, Johor Bahru Campus

Ms Meera has a strong belief that learning should be enjoyable and fulfilling for all R.E.A.L students. She hopes that every child will have the confidence to realize their potential and achieve their goals. She dreams that no child will ever give up on their dreams, especially with the support of teachers, families, and peers.

With a Bachelor of Education (Hons) in English and over 17 years of dedication to education, Ms Meera has a deep passion for working with children. She has taught students at various levels, from Early Years Foundation Stage to Pre-Tertiary level. Throughout her teaching career, she has seen students thrive both academically and personally.

Ms Meera's expertise extends to setting up two international pioneer schools and designing specialized courses to help non-native English learners understand scientific and mathematical terminology used in international and national curricula. She has also been involved in several project-based learning initiatives. She strongly believes that education is a lifelong journey and that every child can succeed when there is collaboration between home and school, fostering self-esteem and trust in students.

Ms Amelia Boon Hoo

Ms Amelia has worked in the Education industry for about 15 years. Prior to joining REAL Schools, she taught the Pre-University programmes at Crescendo International College and Renaissance College in Johor Bahru. Ms Amelia holds a master's degree in science (Chemistry) and a bachelor's degree in science (Industrial Chemistry) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Ms Amelia strongly believes that every child is born with the potential for greatness, much like a diamond. She thinks that parents and teachers have a role to play in refining and nurturing these potentials so that children can shine and display their hidden talents.

With a genuine concern for the school community's wellbeing, Ms Amelia always strives to foster a love for learning and holistic growth in her students and colleagues. She understands the importance of everyone's contribution in transforming lives in today's volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world.
