The REAL Schools Student Leaders Scholarship invites Malaysian students to embark on an extraordinary academic journey through an enhanced Cambridge curriculum enriched with opportunities that build character, resilience, and leadership, preparing them for success at university and beyond.

    Scholarship Benefits

    UK National Curriculum – IGCSE
    • Up to 30% scholarship on tuition fees for the Cambridge IGCSE programme (from Year 5 to Year 11)
    • Access to REAL International School Johor Bahru wide range of leadership, co-curricular, and service opportunities that build real-world skills and confidence

    Who Can Apply

    The scholarship is open to:
    • Malaysian students (Malaysian passport holders) ages 10 and above
    • External applicants not currently enrolled at XCL Education Malaysia Schools, nor students previously enrolled at XCL Education Malaysia Schools within the last 12 months (between December 2024 to November 2025)
    Ideal candidates will:
    • Demonstrate strong academic performance and ability
    • Be actively involved in co-curricular activities such as sports, performing arts, clubs, or community service
    • Exhibit leadership, initiative, and teamwork
    • Communicate confidently and show respect, integrity, and perseverance

    Requirements for Maintaining Scholarship

    Scholars are expected to represent the best of REAL International School Johor Bahru both in character and in contribution. They should:
    • Maintain positive conduct and consistent academic progress
    • Be active participants in co-curricular activities and represent the school with pride
    • Be willing to share their experiences with new applicants and families
    • Have parental consent to be featured in the school’s marketing efforts and promotional materials as part of their ambassadorial role

    Application Process

    1. Complete and submit the Scholarship Application Form and make payment of the Application Fee*. The form is available from the Admissions Office.
    2. Submit supporting documents, including
      • Academic transcripts or school reports
      • Copy of awards and certificates of academic and co-curricular achievements (Supporting documents should only reflect the past 3 years)
      • A testimonial or recommendation letter from a teacher, principal, or mentor
    3. Include a Personal Statement (maximum 500 words) answering:
      "Describe how your strengths and experiences will enable you to contribute to the REAL Schools community and make a positive difference beyond the classroom"
    4. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview and assessment with the Scholarship Committee
    5. Successful recipients of the REAL Schools Student Leaders Scholarship will be notified and are required to complete the enrolment process by making payment of the Registration fee and Deposit.

    *Application fee will be refunded to unsuccessful applicants
