On the 3rd of February, the entire campus of REAL Schools, Cheras came together to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We started the event with a group dance from REAL Early Years, followed by an amazing piano solo by Shirllin Chee from National Junior. The RIS Senior students then hyped up the hall with a performance combining elements from both the traditional and modern dance. This was followed by a choir and poem recital from the RIS Junior students. The Form 1 students from National Senior then graced the stage with an original skit sharing about the origins of Chinese New Year, and why the colour red and fireworks carry significance in this celebration. The whole hall applauded the students for their performance.
Next up was a group dance performance by the National Senior students. We took a break from the performances to invite the school leadership team of both teachers and students to take part in the Lou Sang ceremony, pronouncing blessings for the year for everyone. Everyone then headed to the basketball court to witness the Chinese drumming of the National Junior students, trained by our dedicated music teacher, Mr Chin. The festivities were rounded off with a fantastic Lion Dance performance. The students were excited to have the lions dancing around the basketball court.
