Early this year saw students of R.E.A.L International School, Cheras Campus put together a meaningful and memorable Teachers Appreciation Day at the school. The celebration was in honour and recognition of the hard work and dedication that teachers put in on a daily basis for their students. The simple yet poignant celebration was organised by the R.E.A.L International School leaders who consist of the campus’ student prefects and members of the student council board. Within the span of two months, a host of activities and performances were planned, prepared and practiced by the students to ensure a relaxing and rewarding day for their beloved teachers.
The theme of this year’s Teachers Appreciation Day was simply ‘Thank You’ – the expression of gratitude, appreciation or acknowledgement that is often neglected and disregarded in this day and age. With that in mind, it is the objective of the celebration to dedicate the day for all the teachers to simply let their hair down and have fun. The celebration kicked off with friendly netball and football matches between teachers and students. Despite the inevitable air of competitiveness, all matches were played out in good spirit. Undeniably, this activity helped to build a healthy and positive bond between teachers and students that extend beyond classroom walls.
Apart from fun and games, the day witnessed a youthful lineup of performances by students of the primary and secondary sections of the school. A rib-tickling comedy skit by students of Year 9 captured the smiles of the teachers; while mini telematches in between truly enlivened the event’s excitement even more. A heartwarming video dedicated to the teachers was then shown before the day ended with a cake-cutting ceremony.
Perpetually weaving values into our daily words and actions is part and parcel of R.E.A.L’s core values. Being part of the R.E.A.L community involves encouraging our students and teachers to engage with one another in a respectful and constructive manner. Collaborative school events like Teachers Appreciation Day encapsulate these values that inculcate lifelong skills and essential character traits among students.
