‘Together, Let’s Lend a Voice to the Voiceless’ is an initiative developed by the Civic Department of R.E.A.L Schools, Suria Campus, Cheras to instill desirable character traits such as compassion and benevolence within students. It also provided them the opportunity to make good use of their time and energy as well as to exercise their spirit of volunteerism.
Geared towards providing love and care towards homeless, helpless and vulnerable animals, this noble initiative saw a total of 22 Suria students making a trip to the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) centre in Ampang Jaya on February 28, 2015. The purpose of this visit was to lend a helping hand to the non-profit organization in its daily activities.
Upon arrival, the Surians immediately got down to business by cleaning the dogs’ kennels, clearing animal waste and washing the centre’s drains. After cleaning up, they got the chance to get acquainted with their new furry friends by feeding, holding and playing with them within the compound. Beyond cleaning and playing, the students got to experienced first-hand why dogs are considered man’s best friend and why they, along with all the other pet animals, should be protected from all forms of inhumane treatment.
