In February 2014, The Star published its brand new lineup of young, passionate and dynamic individuals who will make up the Starstruck!team for 2014. Among them was Loh Yong Sheng, a 15-year old student from R.E.A.L International School, Cahaya Campus, ShahAlam. He was one of only 45 students selected nationwide to be part of the Starstruck! Young Writers programme. Well done, Yong Sheng!
Established in 2011, Starstruck! has seen a plethora of talented individuals from diverse backgrounds inducted into the year-long journalism programme. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the programme offers a fertile training ground for budding young writers aged between 14 and 19 across Malaysia to experience life as a teenage journalist.
Starstruck! writers are primarily tasked with planning story angles and writing articles for the weekly ‘[email protected]’pullout and website, based on interviews with their peers and teachers as well as coverage of school events and lifestyle topics. Above all, they get the opportunity to see their byline and stories published in the nation’s No.1 English-language newspaper. With that, we look forward to seeing Loh Yong Sheng’s articles in the near future.
