R.E.A.L Schools very own Mrs. Thiagarajah or better known as Mrs. Thiyaga, was recently honoured with the ‘Lifetime Professional Achievement Award’ by the Justice Basheer Ahmad Sayeed College for Women in Chennai, India. The awards, presented as part of its Alumnae Reunion 2016 event, were in recognition of individuals who have made significant advancements to a particular field that are sustained over a whole professional career.
Besides being a teacher of R.E.A.L International School, Shah Alam Campus, Mrs. Thiyaga serves as Head of the Science Department in which she has made major contributions in improving the delivery of Science education in the school. The Justice Basheer Ahmad Sayeed College for Women was established to develop women through education by cultivating great integrity, high character and culture, thus producing capable and empowered individuals who are intelligent in making the right choices and judgment for themselves and society.
The college’s Alumnae Association sustains a platform for alumni members of the institution to maintain communication and collaboration with each other for the benefit of their careers and self-development. The association hosts reunions every year to help establish and maintain active, healthy relationships between students and the college community comprising staff and lecturers.
At this year’s alumnae reunion, Mrs. Thiyaga had the privilege to receive the award from former Sarawak Chief Minister, Yang di-Pertua Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib bin Mahmud and his wife, Yang Amat Berbahagia Puan Sri Ragad Waleed Alkurdi. Among the other esteemed guests who attended the event was Ahmed Fajr Azam, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Chennai.
