RISS Students’ Choice Award

‘A good teacher explains, a superior teacher demonstrates, a great teacher inspires’. The prefects and Student Council members of R.E.A.L International School, Suria Campus, Cheras were certainly inspired when they eagerly took on the task of organizing the Students’ Choice Award event for their beloved teachers. Essentially, this was Teachers Day done ‘with a twist’.

With an Oscars-like theme, the students had in store a day of joy, celebration and appreciation. The spotlight, literally, was firmly on the dedicated team of RISS teachers who had left an indelible mark on their students’ hearts and minds. With the audio, music and visual presentation all prepped and ready, the event kicked off in style with the teachers (being THE stars of the day) making their grand entrance into the Hall of Character to music and the applause of the audience. They duly took their front row seats and waited for the show to begin. It was THEIR day. A day to relax, enjoy and be touched.

The opening act was a performance by a hip hop dance group, whose members’ energetic and slick moves mesmerized the audience as much as their awesome jackets. Throughout the event, the talented and humorous emcees keep everyone tickled and engaged with their hosting skills. More performances followed, with a traditional Bollywood dance and the band Rhapsody Warehouse performing ‘Just the Way You Are’ by Bruno Mars.

There was even a surprise ‘flash mob’ dance. The full list of ‘award’ recipients on the day, were as follows:

  • ‘The Swag Award’ – Seki
  • ‘The Most Humourous Award’ – Prema
  • ‘The Most Caring Award’ – Pauline
  • ‘The Sexiest Teacher Award’ – Anna
  • ‘The Most Fashionable Teacher Award’ – Anna
  • ‘The Loudness Award’ – Jeanne
  • ‘The Sweetest Teacher Award’ – Tan & Ms. Harinder
  • ‘The Friendly Award’ – Siti
  • ‘The Cheerful Award’ – Siti
  • ‘The Wisest Teacher Award’ – Bimeldip
  • ‘The Iconic Teacher Award’ – Jothy
  • ‘Teacher of the Year Award’ – Rupneet

The event went smoothly from start to finish as the students took every opportunity to show their love and gratitude to the passionate team of educators who play a major role in nurturing and preparing them for the real world. The time, effort and tireless dedication shown by teachers make it among the most noble of professions. As a saying goes, “Without teachers, life would have no class”.
