‘REALizing’ a Horse Year Ambition

In light of 2014 being the auspicious Year of the Horse, students of R.E.A.L Schools were recently invited to contribute their artwork and designs to the “Ride to the Occasion” event organized by ALFA College. This exhibition, which kicked off on 15 January 2014 and will continue to run until 28 January 2014, features a range of artistic and creative expressions that depict the ‘horse’ as its main focus or theme and is open to the public.

With its main ‘Postcard Design’ category, participation was open to all R.E.A.L Schools students along with ALFA students, staff, alumni and friends. As a result, the college received very encouraging responses; with submissions even coming in from abroad from countries such as Japan, United Kingdom, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Germany, Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Overall, a total of 1,258 card designs were received, among them those produced by the R.E.A.L Schools students. All these designs are now up for display at the college premises.

The ultimate aim upon compiling all of the above horse-related designs is for ALFA College to ‘prance’ into the Malaysia Book of Records for having a collection of at least 1,000 different horse designs. Being inducted into the prestigious and prominent publication would create a NEW record of sorts. And should this momentous milestone be achieved, all of the participants from R.E.A.L Schools can be proud of the fact that they have played a part in that accomplishment. It is also hoped that this effort by ALFA would spark more interest within R.E.A.L students towards art and design.
