Shah Alam Campus

CONGRATULATIONS to our very own chess maestro and Year 6 student from R.E.A.L International School, Shah Alam
Campus, Yee Hao Loong! He recently bagged 3rd place in the Under-10 category of the Metromall Rapid Chess Age-
Group International event. He also clinched the U-9 category of the 36th National Age Group Chess Championship in
Hao Loong pitted his wits against opponents from Singapore, Brazil, the Philippines, and India and holds the record of 5
wins in 8 rounds at the end of last year. This promising talent has been taking part in many competitions and has never
come back empty-handed. Well done Hao Loong! You have made us proud and we wish you all the best in your future
endeavours. Keep up the great work!

Ni hao! R.E.A.L International School, Shah Alam Campus recently hosted a group of 11 students and 3 teachers from the
Chinese Province of Jiangsu, who spent three days here from the 19th to 22nd January, 2020.
The guest students were each assigned a “buddy” from the class they attended in order to help them better experience
the “REAL educational journey” within three short but fruitful days. The group took part in various events and activities
that were held within the campus, which culminated in the fun-filled “Chinese New Year Celebration” finale.
The camp was capped off by a simple graduation ceremony at the school’s admin office. All in all, it was a successful
outing for both parties as new friendships were made, knowledge was shared, and everyone had a good time in the
process. We hope our newfound Chinese friends would visit us again, stay longer, and perhaps be part of the R.E.A.L
family as our students!

Gong Xi Fa Cai..!!! 2020 marks the year of the Metal Rat, which is predicted to be a lucky year. With this good omen on
the cards, R.E.A.L Schools, Shah Alam Campus recently welcomed the Lunar New Year with a fun and festive celebration
on 22 January. The mood was set early on when students and staff came clad in their colourful traditional costumes with
beautiful decorations adorning the campus grounds and surrounds.
Stalls were set up serving traditional food and drinks. There was also a Chinese calligraphy demonstration in which
students tried their hand at the ancient art form. Adding cheer to the celebration were a string of performances by
different age groups, with the standout being the captivating “Lion Dance” performance by our very own school team!
Kudos and hats off to the school’s Mandarin Department for putting up such a fun and memorable event as we look
forward to a year of success, happiness, and prosperity!

On 11 November 2019, R.E.A.L International School, Shah Alam Campus held its second ever 'Storytelling Competition'.
During the inaugural edition, students had exhibited great teamwork whilst working in groups. 2019 however, was a
little different as solo participants were chosen this time around. The English teachers in charge of this event were Ms
Suchitra and Ms Shalini.
The competition was a good experience for the students who learnt to overcome stage fright whilst having good,
wholesome fun at the same time. Prizes were given out at the end of the event. Congratulations to all winners listed

14 Jan 2020. – R.E.A.L Schools, Shah Alam Campus, in collaboration with All IT and Free Tree Society, organised an
environmental awareness programme (as part of the #ALLITFightsClimateChange campaign) which comprised ‘go-green’
activities such as fundraising, a drawing contest, and tree planting project.
In line with R.E.A.L Schools’ Moral Skills (part of the 10 “Real World Skills”) which aims to cultivate a sense of community
mindedness and responsible citizenship; students, teachers, and staff, together with representatives from Free Tree
Society and All IT got their hands dirty by planting more than 50 trees around the campus!
The school and All IT also managed to raise donations of up to RM8,500 to Free Tree Society to support environmental
preservation efforts. Environmental programmes like this not only help to beautify the school, but also foster
environmental stewardship and help students to reconnect with nature.
