Class of 2017 Celebrate Prom Night

The most anticipated event of the year for the Seniors of R.E.A.L International School, Cheras Campus – the Class of 2017 Prom Night – took place in June this year and it certainly lived up to expectations. Traditionally, prom night marks the farewell celebration for departing Year 11 students as they embark on their tertiary education journey.

Held at Corus Hotel, Kuala Lumpur; both students and teachers were dressed to the nines with the gentlemen donning sharp suits and tuxedos while the ladies looked stunning in their evening gowns. Several Year 10 students played the roles of deejay, hosts and games organizer for the night; as they paid tribute to their seniors and ensured that everyone had a thoroughly fun and memorable event.

Setting the right tone and mood was imperative in order to achieve this. Hence, a continuous playlist of both catchy and slow songs that suited every musical taste filled the ballroom. Of course, dozens of ‘selfies’ and ‘wefies’ were also taken to capture beautiful, everlasting moments with friends and the students’ extended family at R.E.A.L International School, Cheras Campus.

The highlight of the night was of course the crowning of the Prom King and Queen, coveted titles which Phang Eng Kai and Kristinie Ong won respectively.  They were worthy winners indeed, based on their overall popularity and attire. The new Prom King and Queen were then presented with a moment in the spotlight as they gave their acceptance speech and danced together, much to everyone’s delight.

The night ended with everybody going home with big smiles on their faces. For many, the prom provided more than just a good time. It is a ‘rite of passage’ almost, and a truly unique student experience. It is also one of the last school events for the Senior students to savour prior to graduating. Encouragingly, the spirit of camaraderie and sense of belonging were apparent amongst the Class of 2017. This bodes well for the future as the current Year 10s wait expectantly for their turn next year.
