Cheras Campus Unearths Chinese Singing Talents

R.E.A.L Schools has always advocated the importance of promoting talents within our student community and providing a stage or avenue for them to nurture these talents. A recent example of this effort took place early this year when R.E.A.L Schools National, Cheras Campus organized its ‘6th Chinese Singing Competition’. Preparations for the finals of the competition had in fact begun from the tail end of 2015, when initial auditions were held to shortlist and determine the finalists.

The campus’ Hall of Character was the venue for the young, budding singers to take centrestage and show off their vocal talents. The finals boasted an expert panel of judges which consisted of:

  • Kynn Lai and Ms. Penguin Chan (Music teachers from Serene Music Academy), and
  • Soon KC, former teacher of R.E.A.L Schools, Cheras Campus

Meanwhile, contestants were divided into three categories, namely the:

  • Lower Senior Solo (3 finalists)
  • Upper Senior Solo (7 finalists), and
  • Group Singing (4 pairs of finalists)

The trio delivered a superb rendition of a Chinese song entitled ‘Ji De’ which simply means ‘Remember’. The Lower Senior Solo session ensued shortly afterwards, followed by a video dedication, the Upper Senior Solo performances and a riveting piano recital by Nicholas Law. The Group Singing category wrapped up the competition proper.

Prior to the prize-giving segment of the event, Ms. Kynn Lai and Mr. Soon KC were invited on stage to give feedback on the various performances and to receive a token of appreciation from the school. With the judges’ scores tabulated, the event finally culminated with the eagerly-anticipated results. In addition to announcing the Top 3 singers from each category, prizes were also given out to the ‘Best Chinese New Year Class Decoration’. The full results of the contest are as follows:
