Students of R.E.A.L Schools, Cahaya Campus, Shah Alam were given a special demonstration in dealing with fire. Participating in the hands-on demonstration on fire safety techniques were students from the Fire & Rescue Services Cadets, part of the School Youth Cadets (‘Kadet Remaja Sekolah’).
Fire & Rescue Services officers, Mohd Asyraf and Mohd Azmi, who are attached with the Kota Anggerik Fire Station in Shah Alam, conducted the demonstration and later gave the Cahayan students the chance to experience first-hand the proper techniques of fire fighting. Two techniques in particular were demonstrated, with both geared towards extinguishing different types of flames. The first involved using a water hose to douse fires that are sparked by burning paper and rubbish, while the other uses powder extinguishers to put out petrol-based fires or those fuelled by other combustible-type liquids.
With this live demonstration, students are now more aware of the deceptive dangers of fire and the different ways to fight it. With their newfound knowledge on how to best deal with a fire outbreak, the Cahayans are now better equipped to do their part in ensuring that their surroundings are always kept ‘fire free’. Kudos to the firemen from Kota Anggerik Fire Station and the Fire & Rescue Services Cadets for conducting the educational activity which imparts practical skills and know-how to the younger generation, making them useful and responsible citizens in the process. We pay tribute to their courage and thank them for keeping our communities safe.
