A festive air descended upon R.E.A.L Schools’ Cahaya Campus in Shah Alam on 30 April 2015 when the ‘R.E.A.L Charity Carnival’ kicked off in full swing. With over 20 food and game stalls set up and manned by both staff and students alike, there was something for everyone at the carnival. Food items ranged from fresh fruits and cupcakes to light snacks and crispy ‘keropok’. The variety of games that were available meanwhile, ranged from easy to difficult. However, each game offered participants a unique challenge of its own.
The beneficiaries of the charity carnival were two orphanages and one old folks home for the mentally-challenged. In fact, apart from the proceeds being donated to these welfare establishments, residents and representatives from the homes were invited to join in on the fun at the event. New friendships were forged amid the fantastic food, excitement and laughter. After a long day, the organizing committee and volunteers could not be any prouder, happier and thankful for everyone’s participation, enthusiasm and generosity in making the carnival a success.
Part of the R.E.A.L Schools philosophy espouses that students learn best in an active learning environment. These lessons, which go beyond textbooks and the confines of a classroom, were evident from the sight of the Cahayan students carrying out their assigned duties and responsibilities with passion and gusto. The carnival also provided a perfect platform for them to hone some organizational and entrepreneurial skills. Such charitable causes are among the many long-term social outreach programmes initiated by R.E.A.L Schools’ Cahaya Campus that leave a lasting, positive impact on people’s lives and to the community at large.
