A R.E.A.L Love Affair

Back in October 2014, love was in the air at R.E.A.L Schools Suria Campus, Cheras Yap Chi Lum and Chong Xin Ci, then still engaged, paid a visit to their alma mater for their wedding photo shoot. The lovebirds first met in the year 2000 as schoolmates became friends soon after. What started out as an ordinary friendship during their senior years eventually bloomed into something more as time passed; with their blossoming love eventually culminating in wedding bells and marital bliss.

Yap thought it was most appropriate and poetic to have their wedding photos taken at the place where they first met, became friends, graduated from and ultimately, fell in love. “This school brings us so many fond memories”, said Yap. As avid fans of Arsenal Football Club, both decided to wear their beloved team’s jerseys for the photo shoot.

“I was happy to be back on the school field because I spent many hours and days playing football here,” he reflected. Being a very active student during his student years, one of Yap’s most memorable and proud moments was being elected as Captain of Green House and winning the coveted ‘Sportsman of the Year’ award during his final year at Suria.

Since graduating in 2003, Yap has since gone on to become a travel blogger while Chong is currently a magazine writer. Among the many memories Yap made at Suria, meeting Chong ranks as his favourite and fondest recollection. After 15 years of knowing each other, they blissfully exchanged vows during their nuptials on New Year’s Day 2015.

The Suria Campus community is proud and privileged that the school was the site where these newlyweds’ love story began. R.E.A.L would like to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Yap on their marriage and wish them many joyful and prosperous years ahead as they embark on a new, exciting chapter in life.
